Intoxicating...Colors

And Other Things...Celebrating 14 Years!

That's right, we've climbed a "14er."  To commemorate that wonderful journey, first to Sonoita for the Rune Wine Club fall release party.

James, the owner and winemaker, getting a little altitude.  ðŸ˜…

The six bottle fall "wine booty" goes in Otto's boot.  Some people might say that's enough.  Some people might say that's plenty.

We are many things, but some people we're not.  The Rune booty shares space with a 30 year old Sandeman port and a flask of pre-made Negroni.  Oh, and a bottle of prosecco with some Cocchi Americano aperitivo to make a hot tub friendly spritz.  We're goooooooooood.  ðŸ˜Ž

Now that The Wine Shack is in the rearview mirror, we stayed at the Sonoita Inn...nice enough, and only a couple miles from Rune.

On to New Mexico the next morning...with a stop at The City of Rocks, because...rocks.  ðŸ˜Ž

Oh, yeah, did I mention this was an Otto road trip?  ðŸ˜‚

From there, over the Continental Divide to Truth or Consequences for a night at the Sierra Grande, with a soak in their hot springs.

The ultimate destination is Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs, one of Krisanne's favorite places.  The leaves are just starting to change...

Gigantic room with our own fireplace and mineral springs hot tub.

Stunning trees hiking along the Bosque river.

Adjacent to the Ojo Caliente Round Barn, built in the 1920s, restored in 2002, and now on the National Register of Historic Places, is a Trailer Graveyard.

Of course, the barn is locked; you can't go inside (which appears filled with junk).  Restoration, indeed.  It is supposed to be the only round barn in New Mexico.

The trailers need a bit more work...

Apparently, Ojo has a few vintage trailers you can rent, and this must be where they go to die.  A bit weird, frankly.

Krisanne hiking up high...

The nights were chilly at Ojo...bunny slippers to the rescue!

This bush (no idea) is the only plant in the West that turns red...everything else, yellow (or not at all).

Time to work our way home...thru Taos, tracking the Rio Grande, down the East side of Albuquerque, past Sandia Peak.  Otto's ready!

Back to T or C, this time at The Rocket Inn, which is bowling-adjacent!!!!!

That's right, get ready...

Quick run home Saturday morning; it was a fun week!  Happy Anniversary to us!

Boo!
